Trump Most Competent?

The biggest thing going on right now in Washington DC is a major cleanout of the swamp. Remember in 2016, Donald Trump campaigned on draining the swamp. He was elected, much to his own surprise, and then he tried to deal with the swamp - big mistake. The swamp creatures organised against him, and did all they could to undermine and derail.

Then in 2020, Trump was removed from office. A coup occurred, placing a senile Joe Biden into office. The resulting nightmare almost brought the US to its knees.

But, Trump caught his second wind, and he gained the backing of the oligarchs. Basically, Wall Street figured they'd screwed up. So, Trump was elected in 2024 and comes into office knowing how the swamp operates and he's ready to turn the tables over and effect change.

Thinking about this; Trump isn't conservative, he's a radical.

We live in interesting times.

Trump Appointments

Is Donald Trump playing a game in nominating Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense? I read somewhere that he has Florida Governor, Ron DeSantis lined up to replace Hegseth if the latter cannot obtain Senate approval.

This resembles the earlier example of Matt Gaetz being put forward for Attorney General, only to see him stand down and then Pam Bondi nominated in his place.

In both cases, each original nominee looks weaker than the replacement. My thoughts on this are that Trump could be identifying his enemies, to later primary those coming up for election to the Senate in two years time. Elon Musk has indicated he's prepared to fund this, so I wouldn't put it past Trump to play this kind of game. In the end, Trump gets his pick, while at the same time finding out who is opposed to him and his plans.

Since posting this, I found the following conversation which examines issues surrounding the appointment picks:

Threats to US Democracy

The quiet part is now being said out loud. Tell me again, who is currently running the US and if Trump wins in 2024, will he ever be sworn in?

Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders

It has occurred to me that the Republican Party are looking around for a woman to stand for President. That is, when they rule out Donald J Trump for whatever reason.

Who is President of the United States

Have a look at the following link. Joe Biden is holding his instructions the wrong way round. Clearly visible are child-like instructions to him. It is not credible that this man is running anything.

Stop the charade.

Russell Brand has noticed and has a video up about it, see below.

Ukraine: Things Get Real

After all the waiting, Vladimir Putin has finally kicked things off by recognising parts of eastern Ukraine as independent and sent in Russian troops as 'peacekeepers.'

What we now wait for is the NATO and EU response. Economic sanctions by member countries won't mean a lot. Russia will still sell its oil and gas, and Germany will lap it up. They now depend on Russian supplies.

I just hope the US doesn't go anywhere near the conflict. After Afghanistan, they don't need another humiliating defeat. The Russian empire ebbs and flows, this is just another phase. Best to not get involved, Russia has been the graveyard for many adventurers.

But if the US do go in with boots on the ground, all those who voted for Biden should volunteer their children. They wanted a warmonger for president, they should ante up.

US Capitol Protest

Watching the protests at the US Capitol, how did the protesters get inside the US Capitol building? I've seen footage showing police simply letting people through the barriers. Basically, they were allowed to enter. Not a riot. The whole thing was set up to cover for the certification of the illegitimate President elect, Joe Biden. I'm sure more will come to light.

Have a look at this Twitter thread for examples of what I'm talking about: https://twitter.com/thepedalninja/status/1347010953511100416

We're entering very dark days. Even the world's most powerful democracy has succumbed to foreign interference.

Donald Trump and the Coronavirus

Donald Trump has caught the nasty virus, COVID-19. What happens if he becomes incapacitated and unable to perform the duties of President? Here's an interesting Bloomberg article on that very subject:

On Trump and Greenland

Donald Trump announced he wanted to buy Greenland. This has got to be the laugh of the week but it also highlights why the current President is a security risk. That's because he didn't bother to check if Denmark wanted to sell, or if they could sell. Turns out they didn't want to and couldn't even if they wanted to.

That's because Greenland is semi-autonomous and Greenland get to decide who they go with. So the President's visit to Denmark (now postponed or cancelled) would have been a monumental waste of time. It's kind of a worry this, Trump has his finger on the nuclear trigger - think about that.

Surely there has to be a mechanism for removing the President from office. And I do mean, sooner rather than later. After the Greenland debacle he started talking of himself as the chosen one. C'mon, this is getting very strange indeed.

Kim Kardashian for President

The US has had its first reality television star become President, so why not the first female President also a reality TV star? Face it, she'd be better than the Donald. Better looking too. I know Kanye West said he was going to run, but with his mental stability an issue then it's over to his wife with her new legal training. Embrace the vision.

President Trump and Tariffs

Oh no, President Trump has upset everyone with his tariffs on steel and aluminium. However if you step back for a minute, it is easy to see that the US has been taken advantage of. The countries that are now the focus of Trump's attention, very quickly skew the playing field when it suits them. All the US is doing is evening things up. Those countries affected are crying crocodile tears in other words.

Oprah Winfrey for President

As a result of Oprah Winfrey's outstanding speech at the Golden Globe awards there is a clamour for her to stand for President of the US in 2020. She'd be good in the role and this isn't the first time such a prospect has been mentioned. I remember at one point speculation over her being the first black President.

There are one or two impediments to her candidacy and I won't dwell on these just yet, wait for the bible belt to do that. My concern is why would she? Wouldn't she be more valuable and more of an influencer being an even bigger media mogul? An Oprah IPO would be worth billions and with that she could buy a major player, networks, communications companies, film studios. She could be the next Rupert Murdoch.

Donald Trump - Is He Unhinged?

It has occurred to me that the President of the United States, Donald Trump, may actually be unhinged and should therefore be removed from office. That's not to say he isn't sometimes right. But when he's right it appears to be more a case of a stopped clock being right twice a day rather any Trump wisdom.

Bear in mind he actually inherited his fortune and the company that bears his name employs some capable people. And if Trump had simply invested in a safe Wall Street fund he'd be a lot richer than he is now. He's actually gone backwards on where he was when he took over from his father when taking the S&P indexes into account.

This latest incident where the President took issue with the widow of a US soldier is another example of his unhinged state. I believe the widow's version and that of Congresswoman Frederica Wilson. No doubt the President had the name of the fallen soldier written down in front of him, but Donald Trump is so out of it, he can't even read. Now that is something to think about.

The precedent for taking steps to remove Trump lies in the events of 1987, when senior staff closely observed Ronald Reagan for any evidence of instability. In that case Reagan performed satisfactorily and so stayed on. Perhaps a similar watch needs to be kept of Trump.

Trump: The Turning Point

US President Donald Trump, according to news reports, is at an all-time low approval rating for US Presidents. But this could change if he manages to achieve a satisfactory resolution to the three items currently on the agenda.

1. Syria and their War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity

We've all seen the horrific images on the television, civilian communities being gassed. Children amongst the victims. Syria has lost the plot and stepped over the line.

The USA will likely intervene in some way, and the whole world should support them if they do. Done right, decisively, with weight behind the punch, President Trump will surely be saluted.

2. Trade and China

China has the playing field tilted toward it. Everyone else is running uphill. They write the rules, interpret those rules, and then cry foul when anyone questions them. This approach has seen China accumulate massive wealth. But it has to stop, it must, or the US and the rest of the western industrialised world will be pushing handcarts. President Trump seems to grasp this and his approach with the Chinese President will be interesting to observe. Is President Trump the great negotiator? We are about to find out.

3. North Korea

Then we have the unstable and, quite frankly, loony North Korean state. It appears they only listen to China, and China entered the Korean war to support them just as they were on the brink of losing. So there is history as they say. How President Trump juggles this and trade with China will be crucial. He must be strong with China on trade but also diplomatic in getting China to rein in North Korea.

The stakes for President Trump are high, get at least two of the three sorted in his first term and he'll soar in the ratings and be re-elected. If he falls over and can't seem to deal with things, he may not even get to the end of his first term. Interesting times as they say.

Trump's First Big Test

I believe the first big test Donald Trump will face will not be over immigrants, the wall, Syria or the dismantling of Obamacare. I believe the first big test will be in the Far East, and how he handles China's expansion in the South China Sea and how he handles North Korea. It looks to me like China is using North Korea as a fake, push there yet take more in the South while no-one is looking. Well they are looking and noticing but are otherwise occupied. Can Trump walk softly while carrying a big stick?

Trump's Executive Orders

Just being the devil's advocate here, but I've thought of an obvious solution to Donald Trump's problem with the court effectively suspending his executive order banning people from seven specific countries in Africa and the Middle East,

My solution would be; why does he not just issue another executive order. This time, include a couple of countries in the new order that are Christian or Buddhist majority countries. Say, Myanmar (Burma) for its human rights breaches and recent ethnic cleansing, and Kenya for the problems it's having and the type of terror there. By doing this, the challenge that his order is unconstitutional subsides, clearly the order would then be targeting terror and other forms of violence, not religion

Then if that order was challenged, start issuing orders every week, and then every day, changing the wording each time, adding and subtracting countries until opposition runs out of energy or money, or both.

Nasty eh.

Chris Trotter on Endless Cycles

I thought the following article by left-wing political commentator, Chris Trotter, to be somewhat thought provoking, you can read it here:
