Exposing the Climate Scam

This woman makes a concise argument and in so doing, destroys the whole argument promoting the Green energy industry:

The reality is that measures intended to address climate change will adversely impact the most vulnerable people.

RFK Jr Denied Secret Service Protection

Yeah, despite his father being assassinated and his uncle as well, the Dept., of Homeland Security won't protect the life of Robert F Kennedy Jr. Does the Biden Administration want him dead?

https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4124728-rfk-jr-says-biden-admin-denied-request-for-secret-service-protection/

Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said Friday that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) denied his request for Secret Service protection.

“Since the assassination of my father in 1968, candidates for president are provided Secret Service protection. But not me,” Kennedy said on X, the platform previously known as Twitter.

<snip>

Kennedy, a long-shot candidate who has faced forceful Democratic pushback, said in his post that his request for protection went 88 days without response before Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said he determined “that Secret Service protection for Robert F Kennedy Jr is not warranted at this time.”

Car Carrier Burns

Yet again, we have a Car Carrier catching fire and the crew abandoning ship. This fire is on a ship off the Dutch coast. It is reported the fire started in an electric vehicle (EV). There are 498 EV's on board (earlier reports say 25, that's wrong).

The problem with fires like this is they're very hard to put out. EV's burn intensely and the fire cannot be extinguished. On a ship like this, water can only be used sparingly as the vessel is naturally top heavy anyway, and if you pump water on board the boat can capsize.

EV's are dangerous. If they do catch fire, they burn furiously. This ship will likely sink or be sunk. But imagine an EV fire in a parking building, the heat could easily weaken the structure and lead to collapse.

EV's aren't suitable for everyday transport across the whole fleet. The vehicles themselves are heavy due to the batteries, wearing out roads and bridges. And old parking buildings were never built to carry the extra weight. As they age and you add more weight, you shorten the life of buildings. Then, add the risk of fire that cannot be put out.

You'll never run out of reasons as to why EV's are a dud.

 https://www.cbsnews.com/news/cargo-ship-fire-netherlands-ev-electric-vehicle-battery-north-sea-freemantle-highway/

The Dutch coast guard said Thursday that the cause of the fire was unclear and that only about 25 of the vehicles on the ship were EVs, but in the audio of an emergency call released by Dutch broadcaster RTL, someone can be heard saying "the fire started in the battery of an electric car."

Guterres Crazy 'Global Boiling'

UN Chief, Antonio Guterres is a complete fool. Now he's talking about global boiling.

https://www.theguardian.com/science/2023/jul/27/scientists-july-world-hottest-month-record-climate-temperatures

The era of global warming has ended and “the era of global boiling has arrived”, the UN secretary general, António Guterres, has said after scientists confirmed July was on track to be the world’s hottest month on record.

“Climate change is here. It is terrifying. And it is just the beginning,” Guterres said. “It is still possible to limit global temperature rise to 1.5C [above pre-industrial levels], and avoid the very worst of climate change. But only with dramatic, immediate climate action.”

Labour's Election Bribe

Desperate to get back into power in October, New Zealand's Labour are reported to be about to announce the removal of GST (VAT) tax on food.

https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/political/494590/national-claims-labour-s-tax-policy-will-remove-gst-on-fruit-and-vegetables

But, a good argument can be made for this, lowering the cost of living and improving what people consume must be seen as a good thing.

Meghan Markle Product Idea

Yesterday, I had a conversation with someone about how Meghan Markle could make money. It was put to me that she's run out of options, what with her Spotify podcast being cancelled and her Netflix documentary series being completed.

I disagreed and think there are a number of things she can do, and that's why WME have taken her on. They only handle clients with a certain throughput, they're not handling the minnows. So, she has existing turnover, being the sales of items she's worn over the years and for which she receives a commission. The usual benchmark is 7% of the price tag out the door. This is her starting figure.

But where I think she could clean up is with cosmetics aimed at brown skin girls aged 18-35. My back of the envelope calculation is there are about 12 million such women in America. And before anyone challenges this, I did look it up and worked from a population pyramid. The brown skinned population of America is growing, and it is younger. As well, there are more women than men.

I call these women, the Moroccan look. But they need cosmetics aimed at them and their skin tones. A lot of these cosmetics are now being promoted on the internet, and are not necessarily in stores or on cosmetic counters. This is where the opportunity lies; in the online space.

If we take just 5% of this potential cohort, that is 600,000 customers. If they each spend $250 a year on cosmetics of the kind I'm talking about, that is $150 million in sales that are achievable. Take 7% of that figure, and Ms Markle looks at bringing in $10.5 million every year. A nice earner.

And that's just the start....

Harry and Meghan

Reports are coming out almost daily now, that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are having a 'trial separation'. This usually means one of two things; either they are divorcing and this is the softening up process toward that end, or they are rebranding and positioning themselves for other endeavours.

I got this one wrong. I predicted the marriage wouldn't get to the end of 2020. But it turns out Harry is stubborn and will not accept he got this badly wrong. I mean, what was he thinking? He's royalty, not celebrity - big difference.

Oh, and I notice the claims resurfacing, saying that Meghan Markle had no money when she married the foolish prince. These claims seem to be a concerted disinformation campaign run by those who want to discredit the young lady. I have accurately calculated how much she was worth when she married Harry, it was in the ballpark of US$3-3.5 million. Read the full report here:

Geoff Buys Cars

Geoff Buys Cars has become something of a YouTube celebrity. He calls out the deep state, accurately predicting that ULEZ areas in England were just a way to gather road user charges, not save the planet. Here he points out that EV's aren't as environmentally friendly as you may think. Personally, I think the future is hydrogen internal combustion engines.

Victoria Cancels Commonwealth Games 2026

What is Dictator Dan up to now? The Premier of Victoria, Dan Andrews has announced the State of Australia cannot afford to host the Commonwealth Games in 2026. Melbourne last held the event in 2006, so what gives?

The first thing that comes to mind is that forecasts suggest few tourists will visit. That's because Victoria now has the reputation as the lockdown state. The second thing that comes to mind is that he's been told more lockdowns are coming in 2026. Yea...be very afraid.

Meanwhile, Christchurch mayor, Phil Mauger says Christchurch can do it, and looking at it, it appears he's right, here's how things line up:

  • New Stadium in central city being built (Athletics)
  • Aquatic centre near Hagley Park nearing completion (Swimming and Diving)
  • Convention Centre completed and running (Boxing, Gymnastics, Judo, Squash, Table tennis - if this is too many to cram in, there are other facilities too, such as the Air Force museum, University recreation centre and Lincoln events centre. Each of these on their own can host one of these events)
  • Town Hall refurbished (Weightlifting)
Add the following:

  • Horncastle arena (Netball)
  • AMI Stadium (Sevens)
  • Cowles Stadium, which also has a purpose built badminton building (Badminton, 3x3 basketball)
  • Pioneer (Wrestling)
  • Upgrade existing Hockey
  • Lawn Bowls upgrade
  • All other events are outdoors; such as Mountain Biking on the Port Hills and Cricket at Hagley Oval, a recognised Test venue. Beach Volleyball in The Square.
Perhaps add shooting.

The only thing that would need to be put in is a top level Cycling track.

When the games were held in Christchurch in the 1970's, the University of Canterbury Halls of Residence at Ilam were used as the athletes village. They could look at this again.

Lyttelton and Akaroa harbours can hold limitless numbers of cruise ships. The airport has been expanded and is under-utilised. Talk is of Invercargill being added, fine, but they're not strictly necessary. The facilities are all available within Canterbury. But the taxpayers across NZ would have to stump up.

What do you think?

Movie: Sound of Freedom - 3 Stars

Social media is heavily promoting the movie Sound of Freedom, starring Jim Caviezel as US agent Tim Ballard who sets out to rescue a girl from captivity (given how strict Blogspot are about the nature of this captivity, I'm going to avoid talking about the industry this young girl is involved with).

The subject matter is very important and is handled sensitively. It is raw without being excessively so, and explains the mission well.

Where I think the movie falls down is it feels more like a TV offering. The lighting is often in darkness, indicating a low budget, and most of the dialogue is care of Caviezel himself, always speaking with a low growl, almost a half-whisper which has become commonplace in television. I believe they do this to convey more meaning, or something, but it is lame and detracts from the believability of the story. No-one yells, tells a joke, or speaks at normal volume. I mean, how much of brooding looks can one movie pack in?

We needed to know more about the bad guys, these characters were cardboard cutouts. This is a problem as we are meant to be supporting the good guy. It's hard to develop complete support for his cause if we do not fully appreciate just how evil the bad guys are.

The pace of the movie is fine overall, but it feels like the movie is coming to an end a little too early. This is where some children are rescued from an island. From that point the movie tends to drift, just when it shouldn't. The pace and urgency should lift after this crescendo, but I found myself becoming distracted. Was the movie extended in a later cut?

Sound of Freedom won the July 4th Box Office in the US. This came off the back of strong presales, beating out Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Since then it has scored more top spots and always been in the top three. This is an amazing accomplishment and testament to the filmmakers persistence. Is it worth watching? Yes, it is, but don't expect too much. If it succeeds in waking people up to what is going on in the world, then it will have done its job.

Think things have plateaued? Well, maybe not as interest rates rise and corporates are often on floating rates. For the consumer, prices will rise further.

Twitter Could Fail

Here's an interesting article on the issues Elon Musk is facing with Twitter. Right now users are finding it hard to tweet, and Musk has placed limits on user accounts. While it appears to be coming under attack from both within the site and from outside, this article points out that Musk is being disingenuous with his explanations.

https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2023/07/01/elon-musk-is-self-immolating-on-twitter-and-being-disingenuous-about-the-reasoning/

Twitter cannot achieve economies of scale due to the way it is engineered. It may fold by the end of the year.

The key to understanding the Twitter dynamic is to see the difference between, (a) running a website, where it doesn’t really matter how many people come to look at the content (low server costs), and (b) running a user engagement system, where the costs to accommodate the data processing -which increase exponentially with a higher number of simultaneous users- are extremely expensive.   Twitter’s entire platform is based on the latter.

There is no economy of scale in any simultaneous user engagement system.  Every added user costs exponentially more in data-processing demand, because every user needs a response, and every simultaneous user (follower) requires the same simultaneous response.  A Twitter user with 100 followers (simultaneously logged in) that takes an action – costs less than a Twitter user with 100,000 followers (simultaneously logged in), that takes an action.

New Zealand Epidemic of Excess Deaths

New Zealand politicians are lying. Thousands of extra deaths are now occurring, so what the hell is going on?

Sshh, don't say it's the jabby thing, that'll get you cancelled.

https://expose-news.com/2023/06/30/four-nz-rugby-players-critically-injured/

Leaked Wellington Region statistics record hospitalisation for heart attacks up 83% and strokes up 25%. 2023 excess deaths are up 18% above the long-term history, a hundred extra people are dying each week in our nation of just five million people.

The events reported on the rugby field are tragic, but when unexpected health events are consistently way above historical levels over a period of two and a half years they can no longer be described as a series of isolated and unrelated tragedies, it has become a statistically significant mathematical trend that stands in need of explanation.
