Lord Sumption: Truth of Lockdown
Former Justice of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom has something to say about lockdowns and its effects:
archive.ph/rUXre#selection-807.0-813.106
Lockdown was an extreme and unprecedented response to an ancient problem, the challenge of epidemic disease. It was also something else. It marked one of the gravest governmental failures of modern times. In a remarkably candid interview with The Spectator, Rishi Sunak has blown the gaff on the sheer superficiality of the decision-making process of which he was himself part. The fundamental rule of good government is not to make radical decisions without understanding the likely consequences. It seems obvious. Yet it is at that most basic level that the Johnson government failed. The tragedy is that this is only now being acknowledged.

Serena Williams to Retire
Reportedly, tennis star Serena Williams will retire after the US Open this year. If she wins it, the record currently held by Margaret Court will be equalled and you'll never hear her name again. The media are desperate to see Margaret Court cancelled. But think about this; even if Williams is able to record her win at New York, she will retire having never held all four majors in the one calendar year. Two women have done that in the professional era, Margaret Court in 1970 and Steffi Graf in 1988. To my mind, Williams equalling the record of Court, still places her behind Court who has won that critical calendar year achievement.

Athletics: 400m Birmingham 2022 - Muzala Samukonga
Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Men's 400 Metres Final.
Muzala Samukonga of Zambia ran down the opposition to win. Later, all the media could think to talk about was how the runner for England was beaten after leading from start to finish. Correct that; the runner from England led for most of the race but did not lead at the end.

National Party Conference 2022
Tired. Hackneyed. False. These are just some of the key words to come out of the National Party's keynote address at their party conference in Christchurch. Tired rhetoric, hackneyed phrases and false promises.
Luxon promises to have individual case managers dealing with the under-25's who have been unemployed longer than three months. To me, that sounds expensive and just another level of bureaucracy.
How about slamming lockdowns, the poisonous jab, the mounting government debt and the attack on our food supply. No, the best National can do is bleat about the unemployed. It's tiresome, and as always they'll do none of it if elected. They never do.
National are part of the problem. We need new political parties to replace those currently in parliament, and fast.

Post Pandemic: New Zealand Death Rate Increases
What about the jab? Most of the population of New Zealand is fully Covid vaccinated and yet in 2022 the country is experiencing an increase in deaths. What's going on?
Could it be that deaths are following the jab itself? Consider that Omicron is not as bad as the original Covid thing. Hmm.
In fact, the only reason why Australia is not claiming the international title right now is because it is being outstripped by New Zealand, which, by far, has the highest death rate in the world. Just like Australia, New Zealand had a strict lockdown and travel ban until the vaccines were distributed. More than 98% of its deaths occurred after March 2022 – more than two years after the pandemic began.
