Closure of NZ's Last Oil Refinery

With the recent announcement that New Zealand Refining is closing down its oil refinery and moving to become a liquid fuels import terminal only, NZ is finished. NZ is an isolated country and needs to be self-sufficient in key strategic industries. A few years ago Holcim closed its cement manufacturing, leaving just Golden Bay Cement as the sole domestic producer. I wonder how long that will last? This is a dark day for the little country that was. It will soon go out of business and disappear completely. May I also add, there is no OECD country apart from New Zealand that would allow strategic industries holding such a large share of the market to simply close up shop.
