Shane Jones on New Zealand's Fuel Security

Take note New Zealand government, get this thing operating again - pronto.

Associate Minister of Energy, Shane Jones is quite correct to talk about political economy. This is not a purely commercial matter, it is strategic in nature and of utmost importance.

Marsden Point had a hydrogen production unit if going down that road, the country has gone backwards with the closing of its one refinery.

Campaign to Reopen Marsden Point Refinery

A campaign has been launched to force Channel Infrastructure (formerly Refining NZ) to put its Marsden Point oil refinery back into operation. This can be quite easily achieved as the refinery has not been completely gutted, not yet anyway.

The group behind the move have got proposed resolutions before shareholders at the company's upcoming AGM. As a shareholder I have voted FOR these resolutions.

I urge other Channel Infrastructure (NZE: CHI) shareholders to do the same.
