Mavericks vs Timberwolves Game 1

The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first game of the NBA's Western Conference semifinals. It was a very tight game, but the referees made a crucial call late in the fourth quarter when they ruled Karl-Anthony Towns of the Timberwolves had committed an offensive goaltending violation off a Mike Conley shot attempt. Towns made a spectacular dunk off the missed shot, but the referees disallowed it, and the video referral upheld the original call - no basket.

Here's footage of that play: https://x.com/RGIII/status/1793476117850189898?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1793476117850189898%7Ctwgr%5Ef584226241920f84f612e56d9f7fc9e098f4cddb%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.sportingnews.com%2Fau%2Fnba%2Fnews%2Fbasket-interference-karl-anthony-towns-timberwolves-mavericks%2F60d3a3087d7e8a81a1774913

This seems to be a very harsh decision that affected the outcome of the game. After Conley's shot hits the rim, the ball bounces up above the basket, but to my eye the ball is falling outside of the imaginary cylinder above the ring. In situations like this, calls are almost never made, it was an incredible play and the shot was not going in - period. What do you think?
